Overview
In this weeks blog post we are getting to know three of the coaches here at Top Tier Lessons! We will be hearing from Jane Umhofer a senior on the swim team at University of Illinois, Joanna Aslanides a sophomore on the women's soccer team at Lake Forest College, and Gregory Cook a sophomore on the men’s soccer team at Northwestern University. All three of these coaches and athletes have dedicated years of hard work and dedication to their sports to be able to achieve both personal and team successes. In this blog post we will learn more about why they choose their sport, their passion for their sport, and their favorite memory while playing.
Jane Umhofer
Our first coach that we are hearing from is Jane Umhofer! Jane is currently a senior on the Swim team at The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She has been swimming for 16 years and picked swimming because she found that she was better at swimming then other land-based sports. Her favorite memory while playing soccer is setting a state record while she was competing with her high school team. Jane says that what she loves most about swimming is that it is is both a team and individual sport. There is the opportunity to have a lot of personal successes while still being a part of a team, weather that is being part of a club, high school, or summer team. To conclude, a fun fact about Jane is that she is from the DC area!

Our Next Coach that we are hearing from is Joanna Aslanides! Joanna is currently a sophomore on the women’s soccer team at Lake Forest College. She has been playing soccer for 17 years, she fell in love with soccer after kicking a ball for the first time. Her passion for soccer continued to grow when she realized that she was a good goalkeeper, a position that gave her a challenge but was still fun. Joanna’s favorite memory while playing soccer is from her 2023 college season were her team were both regular season conference champions and conference tournament champions. Along with that for the first time since 2014 her team gained a spot in the NCAA National Tournament. Reflecting on the experience she felt grateful that she was able to be part of the team and found it to be a very cool and exciting experience.
