High Protein Valentines Treats

Overview

Valentines Day was Friday but that doesn’t mean that you can’t still enjoy a love themed treat with your friends and loved ones. But just because it’s a treat doesn’t mean that it has to be completely unhealthy. By adding protein to a sweet treat or other foods you can get your protein intake in for the day in a fun and yummy way. So here are 3 high protein Valentine’s Day themed treats for you to enjoy!

Valentine’s Day Oatmeal Protein Energy Balls

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup gluten free rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened peanut butter
  • 4 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp flax meal
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1/2 cup Valentines’s Day M&M’s (crushed)
 

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl combine all ingredients except for the crushed M&M’s, use a spatula or your hands to mix the ingredients together. If the mixture is too dry add in more peanut butter or honey
  1. Form balls using a tablespoon or a cookie scooper. Scoop the mixture into damp hands and roll into balls and then place onto a sheet pan
  1. Place the sheet pan in the fridge and let them cool for 1 hour. Enjoy!

Protein Pizza shaped like a heart

Ingredients

  • 1 cup protein flour
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese
 

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400F and line a baking sheet or pizza tray with parchment paper
  1. In a large mixing bowl combine the protein flour, Greek yogurt, salt, and Italian seasonings. If the dough is too thick add more yogurt, if it’s too thin add more flour.
  1. Form the dough into a ball
  1. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and roll it out into a heart shape, transfer it to the baking sheet and brush the edges of the curst with olive oil
  1. Spread the sauce over the pizza and then top with cheese, pepperoni, and any other toppings. Bake the pizza for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted
  1. Take out of the oven, and enjoy!

Valentine’s Day Protein Reese’s

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup peanut butter
  • 1/3 cup vanilla protein powder
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • Sprinkles (optional)
 

Instructions

  1. Line a plate that can fit in the freezer with parchment paper
  1. Add peanut butter and protein powder to a bowl and mix until it is a thick dough consistency.
  1. Roll the dough into balls and place on the parchment lined paper. Slightly flatten the dough and place it into the freezer for at least 1 hour.
  1. Cut using a heart shape cookie cutter or press two balls together to form a heart and then put back in the freezer for at least 1 hour
  1. Melt the chocolate chips with the coconut oil in the microwave for 30 seconds intervals stirring between each interval
  1. Dip the hearts in the chocolate and then place on a parchment paper-lined plate. If you want you can add sprinkles to the top. Then put them back in the freezer for another 2 hours. Store in the freezer when you are not eating them. Enjoy!
